Johannesburg is one of the largest cities on the African continent and is the economic and cultural center of South Africa. A melting pot of cultures from the African continent and beyond, students have easy access to explore the country’s seven World Heritage sites. Global studies and social science courses focus on Africa’s history, politics, and culture.

From mouth-watering food to thrilling nightlife, Gaborone is a vibrant city with easy access to the natural landscape of Sub-Saharan Africa. Take courses in African studies, environmental science, engineering, humanities and social sciences. Perfect for students looking for a non-traditional location with a French and Creole twist, this French island in the Indian Ocean is a blend of African, Indian, and European cultures. Take courses in French in Creole studies, ethnology and anthropology in a multiracial society, and African post-colonial literature and culture.

A global center for finance, fashion and media, London is also a cultural hub for Black Britain. More than 50% of students at London Met come from an under-represented background. Join the “Empowering London” course to get involved in social entrepreneurship or take a course on Racism and Ethnicity, Decolonisation, or Diverse London.

ABS-Paris has a student body of 70% international students, making for a rich cultural experience. You’ll have the support of two on-site coordinators, live with a host family, and enjoy planned activities and excursions. UCR incorporates the history of the African diaspora into many of its Area Studies courses, providing opportunities to learn about Black history in Latin America.

One of the top destinations in the Caribbean, San Juan is filled with rich cultural traditions, natural beauty and cosmopolitan elegance. UPR offers courses taught in Spanish in a variety of fields. Discover the influence of Afro-Puerto Ricans on the food, music, dance, and culture of Puerto Rico. U.S. citizens do not need a passport or visa to participate in this program.
