This spring, I leave a state sewn together by cornfields and my home university, Nebraska Wesleyan University, in Lincoln, Nebraska to make a new home at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso in Chile, a country with a spine spun from the Andes. As an English major with a passion for poems, Chile calls to me because of its rich tradition of authors who invent worlds that live between folktale and fact just as Chile, the 'Land of the Poets,' survives between the Andes and the sea, the Atacama and Antarctica. Through this blog, I hope to capture these contrasts.
